No one is really safe from experiencing it at one time or another. In fact, it is the most common reason people miss work and have a job-related disability.

To have a better chance of avoiding back injury, it is vital to keep the muscles that support the lower back strong and healthy. This includes the spinal and the abdominal muscles as these are key players in keeping the entire mid-section strong and flexible.

Here are some recommended exercises to help keep these muscles at their optimum:

  • Aerobic exercise: Bicycling, walking, and swimming can all contribute to a strong back and even help the lungs and heart.
  • Yoga: The stretches that are encouraged during Yoga can provide relief for low back pain.
  • Pilates: This type of exercise helps one to focus on core strength while stretching. It is a good idea to have someone with experience help with these exercises.

Long-lasting health depends on doing the right kind of exercise to keep the body fit. In some cases, it doesn’t matter how much exercise one does, he may still suffer from back pain. If this is the situation, it is time to make an appointment to see an upper cervical chiropractor.

How Upper Cervical Chiropractic Helps Lower Back Pain

The top bone of the neck, the atlas, can have a great impact on the health of the entire spine. This vertebra has the important job of protecting the brainstem. Therefore, it if it misaligns, signals being sent to and from the brain via the brainstem may be distorted leading to muscle spasms, tension, and nerve problems. The spine then has to compensate for the misalignment, and this creates issues with the hips, shoulders, and overall posture. All of this adds up to problems for the lower back. By gently realigning the bones of the neck, the lower back can follow suit, leading to a significant reduction in back pain.
